HII has named Navy veteran Tim Taylor vice president of engineering, technology and design at its Newport News Shipbuilding division.
Taylor has served the division for 29 years in roles spanning work control, submarine safety and sea trial coordination. He currently is director of nuclear test engineering.
“Tim’s extensive experience in waterfront operations will serve our team well, especially as we become more deliberate in the coming year about capturing efficiencies in our business by incorporating AI into the important work that we do,” NNS President Kari Wilkinson said.
Taylor will take on the role Jan. 1 following the retirements of Dave Bolcar, vice president of engineering and design, and Brian Fields, VP and CTO. In his new role, the CTO position will be integrated into engineering and design to strengthen focus on waterfront support and technology.
Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Excelsior College and an MBA from Strayer University.
