When he was young, Alex Berry dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player.
“I wasn’t good enough, so I got into sales out of college and found that business/software sales were the closest thing I had to competitive sports,” said Berry, the new CEO of risk intelligence software developer Seerist.
Whether through the rush of winning a big contract, solving a customer problem, developing a great product or integrating a large acquisition, Berry found the world of business kept his competitive juices flowing.
His career progressed through increasingly senior roles at Nokia, Convergys, Neustar, Vector Solutions, Sonatype, Applitools and others. Technology, he found, offered a landscape where innovation could drive real change — and satiate his desires to compete, win and solve complex problems.
But he was drawn to Seerist in particular for its mission-driven culture, exclusive partnership with strategic consultancy Control Risks, and what he describes as “the chance to build a lasting legacy in a rapidly expanding market.”
“What we do matters — it saves lives and empowers organizations to make better decisions in a volatile world,” he said. “The combination of real-time foresight, human analysis and actionable intelligence is unique, and I wanted to be part of a team that’s truly shaping the future of risk intelligence.”
Berry said the board of directors, which includes senior leaders from Control Risks, and individuals with deep expertise and insights, was another reason he joined Seerist.
First-year Goals
Berry has clear goals for his first year. He is already on a mission to personally meet every Seerist customer and engage in discussions about how they are using the platform, what they find valuable, improvements they would like to see, and their perspective on the company’s roadmap.
He’s also focused on establishing operational excellence and disciplined cadence across the business. He wants to accelerate annual recurring revenue growth in commercial and federal sectors, deliver quick wins in product innovation, and deepen Seerist’s partnership with Control Risks while expanding the company’s footprint in adjacent verticals.
On top of that, Berry is focused on building a unified, high-performance culture focused on transparency, feedback and global alignment. And he’s working to investigate and potentially prepare the company for a well-timed capital raise to fuel further growth and innovation.
“My leadership style is about enabling and empowering great talent,” Berry said. “I believe in hiring smart, driven people and giving them the autonomy to excel. I foster growth, clarity and clear career paths, and I’m relentless about transparency, trust and accountability.”
He describes himself as operating with “a bias for action, ruthless prioritization, and a growth mindset — always learning, always improving. I’m visible, accessible and committed to building a culture where people can do the best work of their lives. I also want to have some fun.”
As he moves forward, he continues carrying with him not only his business background but a personal experience that changed him deeply — his son’s cancer journey.
“It taught me the importance of resilience, empathy and giving back,” he said. “I became a board member of the American Cancer Society, and that experience reinforced my commitment to mission-driven work and the power of community. It’s a constant reminder that what we do should have a real impact and meaning. I believe the experience with my son has made me a better husband, a better father, a better friend, and a better leader.”
AI-Driven Transformation
Berry said he’s still learning every day, especially about AI, data science, and how technology can be leveraged for strategic foresight. Exactly where he dives the deepest is driven by customer needs, the desire to stay ahead of market trends, and continuously improve Seerist’s product and go-to-market strategies.
“I believe in first principles thinking and challenging assumptions, and I’m committed to learning from our team, our partners and our clients,” he said. “I am very curious and find that this time in my life and career is incredibly compelling and revolutionary.”
Much of that sense of revolution is driven by AI and the pace of innovation. Seerist’s greatest impact comes from fusing AI-driven predictive models with human expertise, Berry said.
“This combination allows analysts and security professionals to understand the full context of events, anticipate what could happen next, and assess shifting risk profiles across locations,” he said. “Our workflows and contextual data fusion are true game changers.”
Enhanced by Seerist’s partnership with Control Risks, those capabilities add unmatched depth and perspective, he said. Additionally, Seerist recently launched DiscoverAI and the Monitor Dashboard — well-received solutions that will soon be followed by the introduction of a new AI agent designed to further transform how clients gain foresight to make confident, informed decisions.
Seerist recently had its best quarter in history, setting records in new bookings, annual recurring revenue growth, and expansion. Seerist, Berry said, is now a standard tool in the Army OSINT toolkit, alongside Recorded Future. And the future looks promising.
“We’ve secured enterprise contracts with new intelligence community clients, with SOF commands, and are in discussions with senior Pentagon leadership on adopting Seerist for global risk assessments,” he said. “Our commercial team achieved record NRR and added 18 new logos, validating our product-market fit and strategic approach. These wins are a testament to our team’s dedication and the power of our platform.”
Berry said he continues to be passionate about building and transforming organizations, creating value for stakeholders and leading teams to achieve more than they thought possible.
“The ability to make a difference — whether through growth, operational excellence or culture — is what motivates me every day,” he said.
