Peraton has won a task order from the Defense Human Resources Activity to support the Defense Suicide Prevention Office with training and research to prevent suicide and aid recovery across the Defense Department.

“With veterans representing nearly one in every four of our employees, servicemembers and their families are critical to our mission support,” said Tom Afferton, president of Cyber Mission Sector at Peraton. “We are honored to be a strategic partner to the Suicide Response Teams (SRTs) by providing the tools to increase knowledge, skills, and ultimately helping reduce suicide risk in the future.”

As part of the task order, Peraton will develop and deliver training for DOD’s Postvention Response System, which guides the organized response after a suicide. The courses, aimed at specialized response teams and senior leaders, will prepare personnel to support those affected, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking. They will also highlight the role of people with lived experience in prevention. Training will be offered online and through the department’s Joint Knowledge Online system.

Peraton said the award aligns with its core values and reinforces its commitment to the military community. The company said it is combining advanced training methods with evidence-based practices to build a safer, more responsive support system for service members, veterans and their families.
