The Aerospace Corp. has appointed Steve Shinn as vice president and chief financial officer. Shinn brings over 25 years of experience in leading financial operations and driving enterprise transformation in government and industry.

He will join Aerospace on Oct. 20.

“Steve is the ideal leader as we emphasize operational excellence that maximizes our value and empowers our team to effectively deliver on our critical mission,” said Aerospace President and CEO Tanya Pemberton. “He brings strategic vision, experience in day-to-day financial operations, proven transformation leadership at large-scale organizations, and a passion for space.”

Shinn recently served as acting chief financial officer at NASA during the presidential transition, where he oversaw all financial management and performance activities relating to NASA’s programs and operations across a $25 billion-plus annual portfolio.

During his 15-year career at NASA, Shinn was deputy CFO, deputy CFO for Center Operations and CFO at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Before NASA, he oversaw all business and project control functions and annual business planning for the Space Department at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

He began his career at Computer Sciences Corp.

“Over the past several years, Aerospace has undertaken a significant modernization of our business functions and financial tools,” said Chief Operating Officer Kathleen Naeher. “I look forward to working with Steve as we continue this journey and integrate enterprise services across the company to support the mission.”
