Ronald Moore
CISO and Deputy CIO, General Dynamics Mission Systems
Ronald Moore views cybersecurity as a strategic enabler that protects the organization while driving innovation, resilience and business growth using hyperautomation technology for end-to-end business and IT processes.
Turning security into a driver of innovation and growth that aligns cybersecurity strategy with business goals by anticipating emerging threats, leveraging advanced technologies like AI and zero trust, and maintaining operational resilience without slowing the business have been important achievements, he said. His team also deployed a business-aligned data access layer operating model where IT and security are seamlessly embedded into business workflows, controls are policy-driven and automated, lines of business gain faster and secure access to data, and device costs are minimized.
“My personal motto is ‘Do more,’” Moore added. “Too often, we settle for what we think is our best, but true growth comes from pushing beyond our own limits and believing in what’s possible.”
Why Watch
In 2025, Moore and his team are focused on ensuring comprehensive detection, response and recovery capabilities and maintaining organizational resilience while balancing usability and uninterrupted business operations. They’re also focused on taking calculated risks when adopting new technologies or driving innovation, while balancing security with agility to enable the company to compete effectively in fast-moving markets.
“Early detection of anomalous behavior is now essential,” he said. “Beyond traditional insider threats, we’re seeing sophisticated social engineering, phishing and account takeovers that exploit legitimate credentials.”
Vice President and CIO for General Dynamics Mission Systems Carl Walser said Moore’s tenure as CISO and director of cybersecurity at the company has been “marked by exemplary leadership and an unwavering commitment to spearheading our organization’s cybersecurity strategy, resulting in a secure foundation for our digital transformation journey to thrive.”
Fun Fact: Moore is a passionate dog lover, particularly of bully breeds. He has owned every type of bulldog. Today, his household includes three different breeds: a Bullmastiff, an English Bulldog and a French Bulldog.
