Serco Inc. has received a $49.5 million contract to continue supporting the Navy’s submarine fleet over the next five years.
Awarded by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, the contract covers manufacturing and repair of Radio Frequency Distribution and Control Systems, which enable secure communication in submarine radio rooms. The work includes producing new units, upgrading existing ones and addressing component obsolescence to support the Navy’s modernization efforts.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with NUWC Newport and support the mission of the U.S. submarine fleet,” said Tom Watson, CEO of Serco Inc. “This award demonstrates the quality of work our team has delivered since 2020. The expansion into engineering and modernization services allows us to provide even greater value and ensures these critical systems are sustained for the future.”
Serco first won the Radio Frequency Distribution and Control Systems contract in 2020. The new award expands the company’s role to include engineering services for development, upgrades and modernization of the equipment.
Under the follow-on contract, Serco will provide full support from production through sustainment, strengthening its work on submarine radio room systems. The expansion builds on more than 20 years of modernization experience across other Navy programs.
Work will be performed at Serco’s facility in Ludlow, Massachusetts.
