Lockheed Martin Wins $9.8B Army Contract to Bolster Missile Defense with PAC-3 MSE

Lockheed Martin has won a $9.8 billion U.S. Army contract to produce 1,970 Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors and related hardware, the largest award in the history of its Missiles and Fire Control division, which said the deal reflects continued demand and trust in the system.

“PAC-3 MSE’s recent combat performance solidified it as a must-have capability for America and its allies around the world,” said Jason Reynolds, Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager of Integrated Air and Missile Defense. “With this contract, we’ll be delivering record numbers of PAC-3 MSE for years to come, ensuring our customers have the advanced missile defense solutions they need to defend what matters most.”

Lockheed Martin is ramping up production of its PAC-3 interceptors to meet rising demand and expects to deliver more than 600 in 2025 for the first time. The company said it began boosting output nearly two years before winning the latest contract by investing internally to expand capacity.

The PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement uses body-to-body impact to destroy incoming threats with greater kinetic energy than blast-fragmentation systems. The interceptor has been combat-proven against ballistic, cruise, hypersonic and airborne threats, and is used by 17 partner nations, including the United States.

As global security challenges grow, Lockheed Martin said it remains focused on providing proven defense systems to help the U.S. government and its allies protect their homelands.
