Akima has opened a 35,000-square-foot office in Huntsville, Alabama, expanding its presence in the city’s growing defense, aerospace and technology sectors.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon, U.S. Army service members, Federal Bureau of Investigation leaders, Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce representatives, industry partners and Akima employees.
The new facility will support collaboration and job growth, with Akima expanding its workforce in aerospace, IT, engineering, logistics and mission support.
Akima already supports major federal missions in Huntsville. At Redstone Arsenal, the company provides engineering, environmental and facility maintenance services for tenants including the Army Materiel Command, Army Aviation and Missile Command, Space and Missile Defense Command, several Program Executive Offices, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Missile Defense Agency. Akima also delivers specialized technology expertise, training and field support for analytical software to the FBI.

Beyond its business expansion, Akima is deepening ties with the Huntsville community. The company will again serve as presenting sponsor of the Rocket City Classic basketball game Dec. 21, 2025, at the Von Braun Center’s Propst Arena.
Akima is also active in local organizations, including the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, National Space Club, Night Stalkers Association and the North Alabama Chapter of American Gold Star Mothers. The company also participates in events with the Association of the U.S. Army and the Army Aviation Association of America.
As part of its focus on education and workforce development, Akima subsidiary Pinnacle Solutions has pledged $100,000 to the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering Foundation. The donation, presented during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, will support training for future cyber, technology and engineering professionals. PeggyLee Wright, executive director of the foundation, and Matt Massey, president of ASCTE, accepted the check.
