Amentum has appointed Shaun Jacobson as vice president of nuclear strategy and growth in the North America region.

Jacobson brings over 25 years of power generation experience in nuclear, natural gas and renewable energy to the role. He spent a majority of his career focused on nuclear operations, engineering, licensing, quality and strategic business development.

Mark Whitney, president of Amentum’s Energy and Environment business, said Jacobson’s background in advanced nuclear plant construction and operations — from large gigawatt reactors to small modular reactors — will help strengthen the company’s ability to deliver innovative solutions to clients across the nuclear sector.

“His extensive experience and forward-thinking approach will be invaluable as we continue to expand our nuclear capabilities and build trust with the utilities, hyperscalers, investors, regulators, clients and other partners,” Whitney added.

Jacobson also served as an entrepreneur and led large complex multibillion-dollar power projects, aligning with Amentum’s mission to grow in the expanding nuclear market.

“Shaun’s nuclear experience as a reactor operator, developer, nuclear test engineer, reactor engineer and licensing professional will strengthen our team across the entire nuclear lifecycle,” said John Eschenberg, senior vice president and leader of the Amentum Nuclear Center of Excellence. “His commercial nuclear experience will be invaluable as we participate in the worldwide nuclear resurgence.”
