Patrick Roddy, CBRE Government & Defense Services

On June 23, 2025, CBRE officially launched Government & Defense Services, marking the strategic evolution of J&J Worldwide Services into a fully integrated platform within CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions business.

According to President Patrick Roddy, the transformation unites J&J’s 55-year legacy of supporting Defense Department missions with the global reach, technology and data-driven expertise of CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm.

Roddy described the move as more than a rebrand — it represents the arrival of a new kind of provider in the government and defense marketplace. Purpose-built for secure, mission-critical environments, the organization delivers precise, resilient and scalable infrastructure and facilities solutions aligned with global priorities.

CBRE Government & Defense Services reduces cost and improves efficiency through a fully integrated, technology-enabled platform. The company combines facilities management, advisory services, project execution and self-performed capabilities into a single, agile model that lowers lifecycle costs, simplifies delivery and increases accountability. Supported by advanced data and technology tools, it enables data-driven decisions at scale. From energy optimization to predictive maintenance, these solutions enhance mission readiness, reduce risk and deliver measurable outcomes.

“CBRE Government & Defense Services represents a bold transformation, bringing together global scale, advanced technology, and integrated delivery to set a new standard for mission-critical services,” said Darren Blue, group president, CBRE Mission Critical Services.

    Why Watch

CBRE Government & Defense Services operates in a new era — where missions are more complex, environments are more dynamic and operations must be smarter, faster and more secure. The organization is built for this moment.

By combining AI-powered analytics, smart building platforms and a global supply chain with a proven delivery model shaped by decades of mission support, CBRE delivers at the pace and precision critical environments demand. Whether supporting a military installation, expeditionary site or cleared manufacturing facility, the team brings the trust, performance and compliance required.

This is where infrastructure, innovation and mission execution converge. CBRE Government & Defense Services is not just integrating services — it’s advancing what’s possible for the federal government, the defense industrial base and high-trust commercial clients.

“We’re evolving because the mission demands it. CBRE Government & Defense Services is built on a legacy of trust and is designed to deliver precise, integrated solutions in the most secure and complex environments,” Roddy said.

Fun Fact: While serving in the Army, Roddy worked alongside J&J Worldwide Services technicians and was even a patient in hospitals they maintained. The experience gave him firsthand insight into the customer perspective and deep respect for the work CBRE teams do to help clients accomplish their missions around the world.
