Leidos won a $128 million FBI task order to deliver agile software development and modernization for the bureau’s Next Generation Identification system, which serves as its biometric and criminal history repository.

The Criminal Justice Information Services division manages the system, the world’s largest electronic repository of biometric and criminal history data. It supports investigations for the FBI and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Leidos has helped boost the system’s fingerprint identification accuracy to over 99.6 percent.

Under the new order, Leidos will add capabilities including mobile apps, biometric algorithms, automated testing and integration of emerging technologies.

“Leidos has long partnered with the FBI to deliver mission-critical biometric systems, including NGI—the largest, most efficient electronic repository of biometric and criminal history data,” said Roy Stevens, Leidos National Security Sector president. “Leidos’ work with the FBI to improve the system’s accuracy facilitates many more criminal identifications, helping to keep America safe.”

The task order covers a 1-year base period of performance, with four option years.
