HII’s Mission Technologies division has won a $74 million, 5-year task order to provide modeling and simulation support to the U.S. Air Force.
The work will support the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate and includes developing simulations to help space units train from their wartime locations. HII will deliver end-to-end modeling and simulation capabilities to the Air Force, Space Force and other strategic partners.
Michael Lempke, president of Mission Technologies’ Global Security group, said modeling and simulation are key to helping the U.S. Air Force meet its top priorities, especially given the unique challenges of the space domain.
“We’re pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with the AFRL and offer an operationally relevant solution set that will significantly enhance our space guardians’ readiness as well as the survivability of U.S. assets in an increasingly more complex multi-domain environment,” he said.
HII is also developing decision aid software that uses machine-to-machine data collection to support space command and control decision-making.
The task order was awarded through the Defense Department’s Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract, managed by the Air Force’s 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron. These task orders support research, development and knowledge creation for the Defense Technical Information Center and the broader science and technology community.
Work will take place at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.
