    Gabe Camarillo

Senior Vice President, Defense and Technology Solutions, KBR

Gabe Camarillo recently joined KBR after serving as the 35th under secretary of the Army. In that role, he led the development and oversaw execution of the largest military service’s $185 billion annual budget.

As chief management officer of the Army from 2022 to 2025, Camarillo led significant servicewide reforms, including a comprehensive software development and acquisition policy, foreign military sales and security assistance reform, and the signing of the Army’s first policy encouraging the use of digital engineering.

    Why Watch

In 2025, Camarillo and his team will focus on positioning KBR as a recognized leader in the defense engineering services market, leveraging deep domain expertise to accelerate growth across the Defense Department and international markets.

“KBR is delivering critical innovation and expertise to our defense customers around the globe. I’m excited to join the team and continue contributing to the success of our national security missions,” he said. He leads the Defense and Technology Solutions business unit at KBR, a $2 billion portfolio with 7,500 employees located across 85 locations supporting U.S. Army., U.S. Navy, U.K. and Australian customers.

“Alongside a focus on enhancing digital capability for the military, the company is committed to deliver results for missions that matter most,” said Mark Kavanaugh, KBR president of defense, intel and space. “Under Gabe’s leadership, the team is well positioned to solve customers’ toughest challenges at global scale.”

Camarillo and his team are implementing innovative technologies in digital engineering, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, prototyping, data analytics and AI to generate strategic results that provide cost advantages, reducing risk and increasing operational agility.

Fun Fact: Though he held significant positions in national security at DOD and in defense industry over the past 16 years, Camarillo started his career as a lawyer with expertise in campaign finance and election law.
