
Lockheed Martin has named Dr. Craig Martell as its new vice president and chief technology officer, reporting to Senior Vice President for Technology and Strategic Innovation John Clark, effective June 23, 2025.
Martell brings more than 23 years of experience across government and the private sector, including roles at the Defense Department and in commercial technology organizations.
Before joining Lockheed Martin, Martell was chief AI officer at Cohesity, where he oversaw the company’s strategy for integrating and developing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to protect, secure and analyze data.
He previously served as the first chief digital and AI officer for the Defense Department. Earlier in his career, Martell held positions of increasing responsibility in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Martell earned a Ph.D. in computer and information sciences from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005.
