Tim Langan
Corporate Vice President & Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for Government, Microsoft
Prior to coming to Microsoft, Tim Langan was responsible for the FBI’s Criminal, Cyber, Crisis Response and International Operations Divisions. Even as his role changed, he considers one of his key achievements to be reinforcing that the mission remains the same.
“Cybersecurity is the ultimate team sport, it necessitates that we collaborate across public organizations, private organizations, government agencies and international agencies,” Langan said. “We share information and research, and we keep the lines of communication open 24/7.”
Collaboration and transparency are pillars of Microsoft’s cybersecurity mission to ensure a comprehensive defense against cyber threats.
Why Watch
A top priority for 2025 is defending against nation-state actors and adapting to the evolving threat landscape. In addition, Langan and his team are focused on proactively addressing insider risk across the company.
“We will continue to consider the impact of technologies like AI and agents, the motives of threat actors, and the well-being of the security team, and above all, supporting our customers in their security journey,” he said.
Fun Fact: Langan’s first job was working at a grocery store as a bagger. He started on his 16th birthday.
