Matt Anderson, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel with over 24 years of service, has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as NASA’s deputy administrator.
He served as the U.S. Transportation Command’s senior liaison officer to North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Space Command before retiring in 2021.
Anderson is currently a vice president and Space Force and Air Force client executive at CACI, and also serves as chief growth officer at the Space Force Association.
Acting NASA Administrator Janet Petro said Anderson brings critical experience in space operations, aeronautics and industry leadership that would support the space agency’s focus on partnerships and mission execution.
“Along with President Trump’s nominee to lead NASA, Jared Isaacman, he will strengthen collaboration across sectors and help NASA advance exploration, serve the American people, and deliver results for the benefit of all,” she added.
Anderson is an alum of the Air Force Academy, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He was named in WashingtonExec’s “Top Space Execs to Watch in 2024” list.
