The Federal Aviation Administration has tapped CGI Federal to modernize its Notice to Airmen system, a key tool for communicating safety alerts across U.S. airspace.

The overhaul aims to strengthen the safety, speed and reliability of the National Airspace System. CGI Federal will lead the effort alongside Google Public Sector, NG Aviation and Mosaic ATM.

Alisa Bearfield, senior vice president of CGI Federal’s civilian business, said the company is proud to partner with FAA to speed delivery of a modernized NOTAM system.

“In doing so, we are drawing on nearly four decades of our corporate global aviation experience across civil aviation authorities and air traffic management systems worldwide, as well as our expertise in deploying cutting-edge technology for the federal government,” she added. “CGI Federal is committed to the FAA’s mission to enhance the safety, resilience, and reliability of our airspace.”

The new system will feature near-real-time data exchange, secure cloud architecture and improved coordination across stakeholders.

Google Public Sector CEO Karen Dahut called FAA’s push to quickly upgrade the mission-critical NOTAM system a smart and necessary move. She said Google is honored to serve as the cloud provider for the project, bringing the scale, security and innovation needed to support such a vital part of the NAS.

“Our partnership with CGI Federal accelerates this deployment, ensuring the FAA benefits from our advanced, FedRAMP High-compliant cloud services for enhancing aviation safety and reliability,” she added.
