    Dana Bono

General Counsel, Ultra Intelligence & Communications

Dana Bono is focused on supporting and enabling strategic activity and growth that will continue to differentiate the company in the defense technology landscape.

Ultra I&C has become known for its ability and its agility – solving incredibly tough challenges at a rapid pace.

“We continue to build upon that reputation as we grow in ways that enhance our technological edge while maintaining our responsiveness to critical defense needs,” Bono said. Her role is to ensure the company is legally positioned to identify and secure these transformative opportunities that align with its strategic vision.

“Dana’s blend of legal expertise and business acumen allows her to provide business-enabling counsel supporting technology enhancement and accelerated growth,” said Jon Rucker, president and CEO of Ultra I&C. “The combination of her industry insight, pragmatic risk management, and rapid problem-solving ability makes Dana a truly unique and outstanding business partner.”

    Why Watch

Bono’s team is navigating the fascinating yet complex intersection of AI capabilities and legal governance within the defense sector. They are proactively developing comprehensive legal strategies that protect the company’s intellectual property while ensuring technological advancements remain competitive advantages. This requires striking a delicate balance: Creating robust legal protections that safeguard the company’s innovations while navigating the rapidly evolving policy landscape surrounding AI in defense applications.

“As legal professionals, we cannot simply be gatekeepers of ‘no.’ While sometimes we do end up there, our true responsibility is to chart the path to ‘yes,'” Bono said. “We have the distinct advantage of examining challenges from the outside in, giving us the ability to craft solutions that simultaneously advance business goals while also mitigating potential risks and legal obstacles.”

Fun Fact: For the past two years, Bono devoted her weekends to the ancient and surprisingly complex art of beekeeping. “There’s something profoundly humbling about working with these remarkable creatures — they operate with a collective intelligence and sophisticated communication system!” she said. “The learning curve has been steep but incredibly rewarding.”
