CACI Partners with Military Academy to Advance EW Tech

CACI International has entered into a 5-year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to advance electronic warfare technologies in support of Army missions.

This groundbreaking agreement gives the academy exclusive access to CACI’s advanced EW technology stacks, providing insights that can help advance the Army’s digital signals processing capabilities, said John Mengucci, CACI president and CEO.

“CACI continues to adapt to the dynamic and growing EW threat landscape, as it has for more than two decades,” he said. “Both CACI and the Army will reap significant benefits as we work together to continue to evolve this critical mission area.”

CACI provides signals intelligence and electronic warfare technology to the Army and other government customers. Its threat coverage spans over 1,000 unique global signals. Its technology is deployed on more than 2,000 EW systems worldwide.

As software-defined radios become more common, so does the ability to generate new waveforms. The Army must detect and counter these waveforms in real time to protect its own systems or disrupt adversaries’, the company said.

The first project will extend the GPU Radiofrequency IQ Dataplane technology stack, originally developed for the Program Executive Office – Intelligence, Electronic Warfare & Sensors. GPU Radiofrequency IQ Dataplane is technology used by the Army for EW systems that enhances real-time signal processing, threat detection and electromagnetic spectrum dominance on the battlefield.

The Military Academy will validate GRID data processing outside of a research lab and in the field. Cadets will also test GRID by building Radio Frequency blocks to show its performance, while developing a modular framework and methods for extending GRID to support future waveforms, the company said.

This intends to reinforce technical expertise in software-defined radio and EW applications and help shape the evolution of GRID for emerging operational needs.

Under this effort, CACI aims to build a stronger pipeline of future SIGINT and EW operators and strengthen ties with future customers and partners to support national security missions. West Point will contribute as a leader in military innovation and education.
