Hector Pelayo
Group President – Space, Air & Sea, Tyto Athene
One of Hector Pelayo’s most significant recent achievements was leading and collaborating with his teammates to unify multiple business units into a single, strategically aligned Space, Air & Sea Group.
This structure enhances Tyto Athene’s ability to deliver cybersecurity, enterprise IT and networking solutions to key clients, including the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, intelligence agencies and other strategic partners.
Looking ahead, Tyto Athene is expanding the space business portfolio, entering a critical market within the CENTCOM AOR and leveraging its position on a major Navy MAC IDIQ to drive continued growth and mission success.
Why Watch
In 2025, Tyto Athene is reaching new heights with expanded capabilities in space and cybersecurity, thanks to the acquisition of Microtel, a space-focused software engineering company that brought NASA as a valued client. In addition, its acquisition of MindPoint Group further strengthened its cyber expertise, reinforcing its position in critical markets. As Tyto Athene continues to grow, Pelayo is excited to leverage these strengths to support defense and civilian customers in the evolving space and technology landscape.
“Success is defined differently from person to person, for me it’s about having a business strategy that prioritizes both our people and our clients,” he said. “When companies invest in their employees and create a positive work environment, it naturally enhances performance. At Tyto Athene, we cultivate loyalty among our employees, clients, and customer, strengthening our brand and driving long-term success.”
Fun fact: Pelayo mentors young Guardians through the Space Force Association’s Los Angeles Chapter Guardian Program. Many are away from home for the first time, and he helps them adjust, explore career paths and navigate the transition to the private sector.
