Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has secured an $80 million contract to upgrade U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters with a next-generation avionics system under the H-60M MOSA Avionics Architecture Solution program.

The upgrade includes Mosarc®, Collins’ Modular Open Systems Approach-compliant technology, designed to simplify integration and keep pace with evolving battlefield needs. This system will allow soldiers to update avionics in real-time, ensuring faster adaptability in combat.

Mosarc will equip U.S. Army Black Hawk cockpits with an open systems architecture, allowing rapid integration of new capabilities to meet modern operational demands, said Jenny Miller, vice president and general manager of military avionics and helicopters at Collins Aerospace.

“Not only is the system’s interoperability vital for joint and coalition operations, but Mosarc will also allow the rapid deployment of technology to respond in quickly changing environments and help keep these aircraft relevant for decades to come,” she added.

Mosarc is designed to streamline upgrades and cut sustainment costs throughout the Black Hawk’s life cycle. By integrating Mosarc, Collins Aerospace aims to standardize avionics across the Army’s current and future manned and unmanned aircraft.

Work will take place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Huntsville, Alabama.
