Riverside Research acquired Cog Systems, a provider of secure virtualization and cryptographic solutions for mobile and IoT devices.
Cog Systems’ Aegis Secure platform protects connected devices, expanding Riverside Research’s ability to deliver end-to-end cybersecurity solutions for government and mission-critical applications, the company said.
“The acquisition of Cog Systems is a force multiplier for Riverside Research’s cybersecurity and cryptography initiatives,” said Riverside Research President and CEO Steven Omick. “By pairing their best-in-class secure hardware and virtualization technologies with our cyber resilience and AI-driven security solutions, we can deliver integrated, defense-grade platforms that proactively mitigate emerging threats in mobile and IoT environments.”
Riverside Research will combine Cog Systems’ secure hardware expertise with its own capabilities in cyber resilience, zero trust and mission assurance to speed development of next-generation secure mobile and embedded systems for national security customers, the company said.
The acquisition also allows Riverside Research to prototype, test and deploy its independent Research and Development software on a secure, hardware-backed foundation.
By bringing virtualization from the cloud to the edge, Riverside Research and Cog Systems will give government customers stronger protection against advanced cyber threats, ensuring mission success in contested environments, the company added.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for Cog Systems,” said Cog Systems Founder and CEO Carl Nerup. “Riverside Research has a proven track record of innovation and impact within the Intelligence Community,” Nerup said. “By combining our secure hardware solutions with Riverside Research’s expertise in cyber resilience and software security, we can provide national security customers with unmatched, full-stack security solutions—bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and operational deployment.”
