Northrop Grumman Corp. has won a follow-on contract with the U.S. Air Force to connect airborne platforms with faster, secure communications solutions.

As part of this work, Northrop Grumman will deliver NG InSight, “a software-programmable, open systems compliant processor designed to keep warfighters connected and adaptable in rapidly changing mission environments,” the company said.

Under the contract, the U.S. Air Force will test and evaluate NG InSight for its ability to support the future of the Department of the Air Force Battle Network — its contribution to the Defense Department’s Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control initiative.

“Evolving threats create an ongoing need for secure and reliable communications to stay ahead of adversaries. NG InSight™ enables faster decision-making for any mission scenario while providing flexibility to ensure warfighters across the battlespace can share information quickly and securely,” said Jenna Paukstis, vice president and general manager, networked information solutions, at Northrop Grumman.

Northrop Grumman will demonstrate how the NG InSight open architecture processor integrates with third-party technologies; and provide engineering support to connect the system to existing U.S. Air Force communications networks.

This work follows Northrop Grumman’s previously-awarded Software Programmable Open Systems Compliant contract, and is the next step in delivering an ecosystem for a fully connected battlespace.
