Leidos has appointed Richard Wheeler as vice president of its networks practice.

Wheeler brings over 30 years of experience in enterprise network and IT solutions. He held leadership roles in network modernization, cybersecurity and IT service management for various agencies, including the departments of Defense, Homeland Security and State.

“I am excited to collaborate with Leidos’ exceptional program managers, customers and partners to advance the future of networking,” he said. “The opportunity to shape secure and adaptive networks that drive federal missions is one that I take very seriously. By embracing AI, cloud technologies, and innovative architectures, we can deliver solutions that empower federal agencies to meet evolving mission demands.”

Wheeler will help develop scalable, secure and mission-critical network solutions to meet federal agency needs. These solutions will feature adaptive, AI-driven connectivity and zero-trust security.

He will also work closely with stakeholders to integrate emerging technologies like 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and edge computing, the company said.

“Richard’s depth of experience and track record make him a great leader to spearhead our network modernization efforts,” said Steve Hull, Leidos digital modernization sector president. “His leadership will support Leidos’ delivery of adaptive solutions that help our federal clients succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.”

Wheeler most recently served as enterprise solution leader at a national security firm, overseeing the development of advanced network and IT capabilities for federal clients. He also held senior roles at Leidos and Wheeler Network Design.
