According to the U.S. Census, there were 15.8 million military veterans in the U.S. in 2023, representing 6.1% of the total civilian population aged 18 and over. This Veterans Day, WashingtonExec is highlighting the ways in which the GovCon industry is recognizing and supporting the veteran community, around the holiday and year-round.

WashingtonExec’s Rachel Kirkland sits down with Scott Sizemore, a retired Marine officer and current senior program manager at AMERICAN SYSTEMS. Sizemore shares his deeply rooted connection to the veteran community, having served on active duty for 23 years and coming from a family with a significant military background. Sizemore talks about his experiences in the Marine Corps and discusses AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ initiatives to support veterans through programs like SOAR and VetConnect.
