Don Fenhagen
Senior Partner, U.S. Federal Market for IBM Consulting & Federal Acquisition Integration Leader
For over a decade, Don Fenhagen focused on IBM’s federal national security book of business, supporting federal agencies on their road to digital transformation. He worked with federal agency clients to orchestrate and implement secured technology solutions that enable advancements in operational efficiency, productivity and decision making.
Now, they are at another exciting jumping-off point in the federal digital transformation journey ⏤ the artificial intelligence revolution. When Fenhagen thinks back over the last decade, he is most proud of the client and mission focused team he built at IBM, and the deep relationships he cultivated with agency clients.
“In my experience, the deepest, most trusted relationships between industry and government form when both parties work together to find technology-enabled solutions to challenges that might have initially seemed insurmountable,” he said.
Why Watch
At the beginning of 2024, Fenhagen stepped down as the lead of the federal national security book of business to manage the integration of IBM’s most recent business acquisition in the U.S. federal market, IT modernization and digital transformation services provider, Octo. The company complements IBM’s existing strengths and enhances its ability to help drive digital transformation of government by building and orchestrating open, secure hybrid cloud environments, improving data integration and developing trusted and ethical AI.
With the challenges and opportunities brought forth by AI in the near term, and quantum computing in the long term, Fenhagen can’t think of a more exciting time to work for IBM.
Fun fact: Fenhagen lives three blocks from where he grew up in Baltimore and is in walking distance from most all of his immediate family. “I would not trade it for the world,” he said.
