    Steve Jonas, Aptive

    Steve Jonas

    CFO, Aptive

Positioning Aptive for organic growth, Steve Jonas leads a team in aligning strategic initiatives across core and emerging markets. The alignment was crucial in the journey to elevate Aptive as a preeminent mid-market player in the federal professional services sector, Jonas said.

“Steve’s vast experience and strategic acumen are instrumental as we navigate Aptive’s exciting future as a mid-market consulting company,” said Aptive CEO Rachele Cooper. “Between his leadership, forward-thinking approach and fortified skillset, he’s helping strengthen Aptive as we continue to grow and mature.”

By focusing on enhancing Aptive’s capabilities and expanding its market reach, the company is poised to capitalize on new opportunities across the federal health space while strengthening existing client relationships, Jonas said. This strategic approach not only drives sustainable growth but also ensures that Aptive will remain at the forefront of innovation and excellence in its sector, he said.

Jonas joined the executive team in April.

    Why Watch

Jonas’ team is focused this year on achieving the goals it set at the beginning of the year while maintaining one of its hallmarks as a trusted partner to customers with unwavering reliability through a consistent commitment to excellence.

“A finance team might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about creating a value-based culture, but they play crucial roles,” Jonas said. “It begins with a strong focus on accountability throughout an organization, along with a clear understanding of value drivers to become a true partner in driving business strategy for sustainable growth.”

The team is focused on both innovation and increased market share/continued growth. Aptive had several consecutive years of explosive growth. In the past year, the company secured five new federal contract vehicles which expanded its portfolio into new customers and built momentum.

Aptive was founded as a modern government services agency with a built-in culture of innovation. Its Strategic Innovation Group and Innovation Lab work across the company to solve problems and enhance offerings using innovative technology, including generative AI, for example, to help veterans get their benefits faster with intelligent automation or to close hiring gaps for federal agencies with digital recruitment methods. Both projects have won multiple government innovation awards.

The finance and accounting team are leveraging this center of excellence as they look for new opportunities to automate financial reporting, mature internal systems, produce real-time actionable insights for stakeholders and ultimately scale business operations.

Fun fact: Jonas was an All-American offensive lineman at Colgate University. His four-year collegiate career culminated with an invite to minicamp with the Detroit Lions in 2009, coincidentally Matthew Stafford’s rookie season as well.
