Lisa Lax
Vice President of Contracts & Management Office, GDIT
Lisa Lax’s biggest recent achievement is significantly reducing staff attrition for the second year to below the industry benchmark in a highly competitive talent marketplace.
“We accomplished this by meaningful engagement with each employee, focusing on skill development and career growth, but most importantly fostering a culture that helps each team member thrive both personally and professionally,” she said.
Why Watch
In 2024, her team is heavily focused on business growth and successful program execution. An acquisition professional can be “competitive advantage” when a trusted business partner, she said, and this requires a deliberate training plan to understand the art of the possible in public sector contracting.
“A great leader does not just celebrate their team’s successes but recognizes the courage of those members who were brave enough to have tried something and failed,” Lax said. “Their failure could lead to your team’s most important successes.”
Fun fact: “I love Disney World vacations,” Lax said. “When my children were little, I took them to Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party, and I was lucky enough to repeat the experience in 2023 with them and my two grandchildren. But more surprising has been my ability to arrange multiple visits over the years with my 25-plus family members.”
