Serco has appointed Tom Read as the group chief digital and technology officer.

“I am confident that Tom’s expertise and visionary approach will be invaluable as we continue to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape,” Serco Group Chief Executive Mark Irwin said. “Tom brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving digital transformation and technological innovation across various industries.”

In this role, Read will lead Serco’s efforts for integrating advanced technology to enhance safety and efficiency of its operations, drive strategic growth and deliver innovation to its customers, the company said.

He will oversee digital and cybersecurity strategies, IT infrastructure, and the adoption and scaling of new technology platforms.

“I am delighted to be joining Serco. It is a company that spans multiple sectors and the scope to harness new technologies to improve our service to customers is immense,” Read said. “I am impressed by the commitment that Serco is showing in developing, embracing and embedding digital and technological solutions.”

Read brings years of experience with digital and technology-focused human centered design to Serco. He was CEO and director of the Government Digital Service in the Cabinet Office, the U.K. government’s center for digital product development, and chief digital officer at the U.K.’s Ministry of Justice.
