    Dan Edwards, SAIC

    Dan Edwards

    Director, Cybersecurity, Digital Innovation, SAIC

Dan Edwards recently rolled out a Continuous Authorization to Operate capability at SAIC, which provides one of the most robust governance risk and control solutions available today designed with agency requirements in mind. The solution streamlines and increases auditability, speeds up cloud adoption and drives down costs by reducing work for skilled security staff in addition to automating and orchestrating authorization processes.

“Every new technology advancement and associated cyber threat presents an opportunity to learn, grow and create innovative defenses and capabilities to enable our customer mission,” Edwards said.

As an innovative technologist, Edwards recognizes technology is a key component to business transformation. Globally, threat actors use new technology as an opportunity to develop new attack methods. Edwards emphasizes the need to build security into technology deployment, practice good cyber hygiene and aggressively ensure compliance monitoring through cATO.

    Why Watch

In 2024, Edwards is focused on enhancing SAIC’s cATO capability and threat detection by strategically incorporating AI automation to defend customer mission essential systems efficiently and effectively from growing global cyber threats.

Edwards is no stranger to innovation first. He participated in developing and deploying the first nationwide fiber optic network, led the build to operationalize Iridium’s North American Gateway for Mobile Satellite Phone services, and architected one of the first centralized virtual contact centers using a central internet protocol-based solution.

Andy Henson, senior vice president of Digital Innovation at SAIC, refers to Edwards as the “rock” for the Cyber Innovation team at SAIC.
