SpiderOak has named Kip Gering as the new chief revenue officer. He will work from the company’s headquarters in Reston, Virginia, managing the sales, business development and marketing departments, and reporting directly to the CEO.

Gering, with over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity and related fields, will focus on implementing corporate strategies, exploring new markets and boosting revenue through strategic sales and partnerships. His most recent role was as a senior executive at Xage Security.

“SpiderOak stands at the forefront of this transformation by delivering data, application, and device protection across any network enabling our defense ecosystem partners to prevent disruptions and block cyberattacks,” Gering said. “I am thrilled to join SpiderOak to continue the adoption of our solution in the defense sector and have the opportunity to provide these same protections and capabilities to various commercial sectors.”

Before working at Xage Security, Gering had executive roles in marketing and product management at NES and Itron. He started his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force.
