Former National Reconnaissance Office Director Betty Sapp has been appointed to the board of directors at BAE Systems.

Sapp joined NRO in 1997 and became the first woman to serve as its director in 2012. She held the position for seven years and previously worked as a CIA officer for more than 20 years before retiring in 2019. She also served as deputy undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence from 2007 to 2009.
Her career began as a U.S. Air Force officer, where she served for 17 years in acquisition and financial management roles, focusing on space and satellite programs.
In addition to her role at BAE Systems Inc., Sapp holds board positions with Systems Planning & Analysis, the Charles Stark Draper Lab, Ball Corp. and previously, Perspecta Inc.
