    CSO, ManTech

The latest major accomplishment for the ManTech Security program is the development and expansion of data analytics. Dan Payne attributes this success to his talented team, who excel in security, operational processes and data analytics. Together, they identified key organizational information to improve understanding of security operations.

They also automated processes to generate vital security performance data, which provided an unprecedented level of insight into the security’s effectiveness, setting a new standard for performance.

    Why Watch

This year, Payne’s goal is to build on last year’s achievements and automate as many security processes as possible to streamline these processes and enhance consistency. And he’ll do it all with an eye toward optimizing security and counterintelligence.

“Security and counterintelligence are two sides of the same coin,” he said. “Counterintelligence identifies what our adversaries are doing against us; security puts the defenses in place to protect against those activities. If security and counterintelligence programs do not work together, both programs will be ineffective.”

Fun Fact: Payne is a voracious reader, primarily focused on history, politics and business, rarely touching fiction. He typically juggles five or six books at a time, scattered around his house. His home contains over 20 bookshelves, each 6 to 7 feet high and double stacked with books.
