Peraton has appointed retired Lt. Gen. Scott Howell, former commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, to its advisory board.
Howell retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2021 after a 34-year military career, mainly in special operations, with extensive combat experience. His deployments around the globe included service in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Haiti, Kosovo, Mozambique, Djibouti and Afghanistan.
Prior to commanding JSOC, Howell served as the vice commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command Washington Office. He served as commander of the Joint Special Operations Joint Task Force – Afghanistan/NATO Special Operations Component Command – Afghanistan from 2016 to 2017.

Howell serves as a CAPSTONE senior fellow at the National Defense University and is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star Medal.
