Systems Planning & Analysis, a global provider of advisory services for critical national security objectives, announced Betty J. Sapp has joined its board of directors. Sapp brings advisory expertise to SPA’s expanding portfolio in space and intelligence.

“SPA’s mission of providing innovative solutions to solve their clients’ most challenging problems, is critically important and has a strategic and lasting impact on national security,” she said. “I am deeply committed to leveraging my expertise within the space and intelligence communities to help guide SPA through its next phase of growth and beyond.”

Sapp was the director of the National Reconnaissance Office for nearly seven years. Before that, she was a U.S. Air Force officer in various acquisition and financial management roles. She joined the CIA in 1997, where she served for over 20 years.

Besides her role on SPA’s board, Sapp is also on the boards of Ball Corp. and the Charles Stark Draper Lab and consults for the CEO of the United Launch Alliance.

“We are honored and delighted that Betty has joined the board,” said SPA CEO Rich Sawchak. “She is a superb addition for us as our growth in the space and intelligence markets continues to accelerate. Our acquisitions of Arena Technologies and PRKK along with some recent strategic hires have positioned SPA well for expansion within these markets.”

Before retiring from the CIA in 2019, Sapp held increasingly responsible positions within the Defense Department and the intelligence community.

“Betty is joining our board of directors at an incredibly exciting time for the company, and her remarkable track record in the space and intelligence domains makes her an invaluable asset to the team,” said David Wodlinger, chairman of the SPA board and a managing partner of Arlington Capital Partners, owners of SPA.
