    Ben Tarr, Outside Analytics

    Ben Tarr

CEO of Outside Analytics, a Division of SMX

Ben Tarr’s recent achievement was founding and building Outside Analytics, acquired by SMX in late 2023. Outside Analytics is a software engineering and data analytics partner within the national security space community.

“The recognition of our successes and impactful solutions along with our ability to positively advance our customers’ mission capabilities, even as a small business, were our greatest accomplishments last year,” Tarr said.

He said examining the challenges in the national security domain and working with his team to chart a course that solves a specific problem and advances the client’s mission is energizing.

“The pace of technology insertion globally has rapidly increased the need for thinking such as this, and I look forward to our team’s continued work to support these outcomes,” he said.

    Why Watch

In 2024 and beyond, Tarr’s team remains focused on addressing the challenge of translating the ever-increasing all-domain ISR data (ground, airborne and space) into tactically relevant intelligence.

“We’ve been hyper focused on advancing how the space domain adds value, specifically to JADC2 and BMC3,” Tarr said. “Becoming part of SMX enables us to expand our scope and bring our data processing, analytics and visualization capabilities to a wider range of customers, mission outcomes and domains.”

Outside work, Tarr enjoys tinkering on old cars.

“I find it very relaxing to fix/restore something simple and mechanical in contrast to the highly complex systems I’ve spent my career building,” he said.
