Matt Jones
President & CEO, Sigma Defense
In 2023, Sigma Defense surpassed its growth targets, increasing its customer base and introducing new capabilities, Matt Jones said. The company expanded its presence in DevSecOps and software factories through collaborations with The Forge, Black Pearl, Platform One and Big Bang.
Sigma also supported new Commercial Solutions for Classified customers and developed opportunities with Network in a Box. Additionally, it strengthened its foundation with significant achievements in USSOCOM for Joint AISR Sensor Data Transport.
Sigma is well-placed for success, anticipating new software product launches in the first quarter and more growth opportunities in the future. Jones views the company’s biggest achievement as the momentum it has created and its success in realizing its vision for CJADC2 and DevSecOps. This includes providing solutions tailored to the distinct needs of its customers.
“Never lay-up,” Jones said. “I believe in running businesses that dunk the ball. Go for something big and make an impact for our customers. I never want to be the company just looking for points.”
Why Watch
In 2024, Sigma is committed to breaking new ground in providing capabilities for edge computing, analytics and data distribution from the tactical edge for CJADC2. The company envisions leading the charge in fulfilling the “sense, make sense, and act” approach through a network of aligned organizations that deliver integrated software innovations across various capabilities.
The main goal is to establish a suite of tools and services that expedite the adoption of new capabilities, data streams and machine learning models within a unified common application.
Fun fact: Jones has a large collection of Air Jordans. “When originally made, Jordans were the first shoe designed with the athlete in mind and they looked cool,” he said. “Every solution I’ve been a part of has been designed with the warfighter in mind – they serve as a constant reminder of my north star – and I think I look cool wearing them.”
