Matt Tait
CEO & President, ManTech
Of the many achievements in 2023, Matt Tait is most proud that ManTech set the benchmark for attracting and hiring the industry’s best talent to support clients in every sector it serves: defense, intelligence community and federal civilian.
The ManTech team achieved remarkable success in addressing customers’ toughest challenges with advanced solutions spanning high-end engineering, emerging technology, cognitive cyber, intelligent systems engineering, and software development, all powered by AI and machine learning. ManTech’s growth came organically, through on-contract work and new business, including several key victories that paved the way for new growth areas.
In 2023, ManTech won several big contracts, including a $261 million deal with the U.S. Air Force, a $622 million contract with the Army, major intelligence contracts and key roles in a $500 million Justice Department contract, and a $60 billion Department of Veterans Affairs contract. The company also grew stronger by buying Definitive Logic, adding over 300 experts in digital transformation and improving its advisory role for government clients.
Why Watch
Under its 2027 Strategic Plan, ManTech aims for significant growth and innovation, focusing on critical tasks to meet current and future challenges. The company plans to use AI, machine learning and other new technologies extensively. ManTech already uses these technologies in government sectors to improve border security, missile defense, space launches and maintenance of military vehicles and government IT systems.
While many saw 2023 as the dawn of AI, for ManTech, it marked another year in its longstanding AI journey. In 2024, the company will continue to advance mission success with AI, building on its decade-plus experience.
Fun Fact: In the mid-1990s, Tait was on the Jay Leno Show in LA to ask a question in a segment called “Iron Man Jay.” In December 2023, Tait was back in LA, attending the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation Gala. “Jay Leno was the host and I got to remind him of our time together on his show,” Tait said. “He found it entertaining and asked me if I had another question for him!”
