    Steve duMont, GM Defense

    Steve duMont

    President, GM Defense

“We’re going into the new year with considerable unrest around the world,” said Steve duMont. “With an election cycle upon us with unknown outcomes here in the U.S., combined with more Continuing Resolutions and a political environment that has seen its share of internal conflict in recent months, the private sector faces challenges with constraints in how best to support our warfighters when we work in an ever-evolving world of budget uncertainty.”

Defense funding is at a critical juncture. When looking at modernization efforts, new programs are the first to get cut, yet many are essential to equip aging fleets of vehicles with technologies that will support warfighters on battlefields of the future, he said.

The innovation coming from the commercial sector is stunning; from more efficient internal combustion engines to alternative propulsion technologies and advanced safety features that can be adapted for military use. With proven commercial technology and some advanced capabilities that exist now, duMont is optimistic GM Defense can continue to leverage the commercial advancements to better deliver enhanced capabilities to the brave men and women who wear the uniform of this nation.

    Why Watch

DuMont encourages his team at GM Defense to continue leveraging the advanced technologies and investments of the parent company, General Motors, to deliver enhanced capability to global defense and government customers.

“There is no more noble a cause than supporting the warfighters who make great sacrifices to protect the freedoms we enjoy,” he said. “Thanks to billions of dollars’ worth of investments from our parent company, GM, there are important technologies readily available and able to implement now, in an effort to provide greater performance, increased fuel efficiency and enhanced capabilities, such as near Silent Drive and Silent Operations through proven battery electric technologies. I remain committed to putting these technologies into the hands of warfighters to help ensure they can meet their missions with success.”
