    Jordan Burris, Socure

    Jordan Burris

Vice President of Public Sector Strategy, Socure

According to Jordan Burris, the top public sector challenges for 2024 are two sides of the same coin and must be dealt with simultaneously.

“There are many challenges today that leave it difficult for many demographics to assert their identity online and engage in an increasingly digital world,” he said. This ranges from systemic gaps in how technology is designed to the application of security measures for combating cyber-enabled crime that negatively impact vulnerable populations.

The rates of identity theft, impersonation and AI-driven identity fraud attacks originating from criminal enterprises, nation states and other malicious actors are continuing to increase with no signs of plateauing.

“When I served in government, I swore an oath and for a period of time did everything in my power to solve problems on behalf of the American public,” Burris said. “As I continue my service in the private sector, I’ve seen firsthand how closing the gap in our fragmented digital identity infrastructure has positively impacted the lives of those most in need of support from the government.  I’m proud of our team’s work and look forward to continuing to build a future where digital identity is representative of diverse people and works for everyone that chooses to engage in the system.”

    Why Watch

As a company, Socure is on a mission to verify 100% of good identities in real time and completely eliminate identity fraud on the internet. For Burris, a personal mission and passion area is partnering with government and industry leaders to improve digital identity inclusion and fairness for digital services. This means confirming anyone who seeks to assert their identity online can do so in a simple, seamless, secure and equitable manner.

Beyond Burris’ work with Socure, he also serves on the board of directors for the Kantara Initiative, a nonprofit trade association that works to develop standards for identity and personal data management, and the Identity Theft Resource Center, a nonprofit organization established to minimize risk and mitigate the impact of identity compromise.

Since the 2021 launch of Socure’s public sector business, Burris and his team have expanded across states and the federal government in transforming service delivery at a pivotal time where the government is rethinking strategies to modernize and offer an online-first approach to the broader public. Burris and his team are also undertaking strategic efforts to confirm that SocureGov, the company’s public sector platform, is FedRAMP and StateRAMP compliant. They anticipate achieving full certification in 2024.
