    Barry Duplantis, Mattermost

    Barry Duplantis

Vice President & General Manager of North America Public Sector, Mattermost

Barry Duplantis suggests the top three challenges for public sector in 2024 are:

    • Adopting a zero trust mentality: Though many agencies are making progress with their zero trust plans, integrating zero trust best practices into existing workflows continues to be a challenge. The Defense Department must remain at the forefront of innovation to maintain tactical advantage while ensuring this innovation doesn’t introduce new vulnerabilities into existing systems and networks.
    • Formulating an effective and secure approach to AI and ML: AI and ML are hot topics in government, but AI strategies are still in their infancy for many agencies. Many Mattermost clients look for opportunities to experiment responsibly with tools like generative AI in a closed environment. Duplantis has also noticed many organizations struggle to understand how innovative technologies such as Mattermost can assist or complement their AI plans.
    • Secure collaboration: There are many programs, such as JADC2, that are designed to foster collaboration, but true collaboration across disparate organizations and teams is hard. Duplantis is working closely with customers in the Air Mobility Command and Space Force to help them adopt cutting-edge collaboration tools in air-gapped environments for its mission critical programs.

“Given the current rate of innovation and the growing use of artificial intelligence, our public sector agencies must have a secure environment to collaborate, test and implement new tools to remain competitive in the global race for technological supremacy,” Duplantis said. “I’m proud of how the work we do at Mattermost helps ensure our agencies are able to be innovation leaders.”

     Why Watch

Duplantis’ team is working to serve government customers as the premier collaboration and ChatOps solution for regulated markets, air-gapped environments and mission critical activities. The team supports technical and operational teams that work in CyberOps, MissionOps and DevOps to save time, money and lives.

The team also is working closely with current and potential partners who can enhance government offering and support mission-critical work and technological innovation at the edge.

“Barry’s work at Mattermost is built on a strong foundation of open source technical leadership, and as a former U.S. Army Green Beret, he knows how important it is to have innovative tools that work effectively and securely at the speed of the mission,” said Craig Abod, president of Carahsoft. “He is a fantastic partner for his government customers and helps accelerate mission-critical work and collaboration within their complex environments.”
