Beth McGrath
Global Leader for Government and Public Services, Deloitte
Beth McGrath advises government clients on a broad range of issues, reflecting the breadth of global trends. She also leads Deloitte’s Defense, Security & Justice practice globally, working with clients on how to improve mission outcomes and create a safer, more secure and just world.
When discussing achievements, McGrath, emphasizes her team’s response to the many crises that rose over the past few years. From helping countries’ address COVID-19 to supporting refugees from Ukraine, Deloitte’s GPS professionals have taken an active role in helping governments adapt to the new realities of today’s often complex and interconnected world.
“The pandemic, its aftermath, and the continued dynamic shifts that we’re seeing have permanently altered the expectations of governments,” said McGrath, who spent more than 25 years with the U.S. government before joining Deloitte. “Governments now have an outsized role in the public and private sectors’ ability to recover and thrive.”
Why Watch
Going forward, McGrath and her team will be looking to AI and generative AI and how governments can use these and other emerging technologies to meet mission objectives. With Deloitte’s extensive experience applying technology solutions across a variety of industries, McGrath is confident her team can draw on best practices to help governments discover and make the most of opportunities to leverage AI in support of achieving mission objectives.
McGrath is aware there is hesitation regarding AI and technology, and she recognizes that putting people first is a critical part of her work with U.S. and foreign partner governments. That’s why she tries to model behavior that encourages well-being, unplugging to enjoy sports, the outdoors, and other personal interests beyond their professional environments.
First and foremost, though, McGrath is dedicated to public service: “Working with the public sector is an awesome and humbling responsibility, the very embodiment of public trust—and it is important to me that I and other public servants understand the impact and magnitude of the job they are stepping into.”
