    Ryan Colvert, Leidos

Leidos has appointed Ryan Colvert as vice president of government affairs to oversee the company’s national security portfolio.

A Marine Corps veteran and former U.S. Senate staffer, Colvert will represent Leidos on Capitol Hill on defense and intelligence-related issues.

“Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Leidos’ government affairs team,” said Amy Smith, Leidos senior vice president of government affairs. “Ryan’s experience on and off the Hill and as a Marine Corps veteran is invaluable as we work with Congress to address critical national security matters.”

Colvert spent seven years working on national security issues for Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va. This included close coordination with the Senate Armed Services Committee in crafting the annual Defense Authorization Act. Colvert also advised Kaine on matters of joint jurisdiction, such as congressional war powers.

He started his career as a Marine Corps fighter pilot, flying the AV-8B Harrier II and serving in deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and the Western Pacific. In his final assignment, he worked for the Marine Corps’ deputy commandant of aviation.
