Ebony Jones
Inclusion & Diversity Program Lead & Associate Director, Accenture Federal Services
Ebony Jones’ biggest recent achievement was advancing Accenture Federal Services’ efforts to diversify its workforce and leadership.
“While there is still work to do, I am proud to see Accenture Federal Services continue to make strides in this space year after year,” she said. “I hear from our people that they see and feel the intentionality of the actions their leaders are taking.”
Jones expressed enthusiasm about the recent launch of the second phase of the company’s “Amplify to Elevate” leadership program. Developed with her colleague Keyatta Orlena, the program aims to foster safe spaces for discussing shared experiences, learning, providing resources, and offering sponsorship for ethnically diverse individuals.
“Ebony is an exceptional leader who leverages her deep understanding of Accenture Federal Services’ people and business strategy to architect impactful change programs and initiatives,” said Lisa Sherhart, Accenture Federal Services chief human resources officer. “I truly believe, ‘Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.’ Ebony’s superpower is the grit she demonstrates in driving the actions that create culture change. Together with Ebony’s leadership, our company continues to make significant progress towards recognizing our vision to be a place where our people feel like they belong and can reach their highest aspirations.”
Why Watch
Accenture Federal is committed to maintaining a culture where employees feel they belong and can grow and advance. This inclusive, equitable environment improves individual and organizational strength and innovation. The company actively recruits from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions and collaborates with nonprofits, academia and local governments for skilling and hiring programs targeting veterans, military spouses and underrepresented communities.
Jones said while DEIA work often involves hiring diverse individuals, conducting trainings and participating in conferences and workshops, the real challenge and impact lie in creating a cultural shift. This shift is essential not just for attracting people, but also for retaining them and aiding their progress.
“This includes breaking down barriers, evolving processes and policies, and changing mindsets, while still ensuring people feel like they belong and are appreciated,” she said.
