Dr. Deat LaCour
Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, BlueHalo
Dr. Deat LaCour stood up BlueHalo’s Office of Culture, Climate, Inclusion and Belonging in late 2021 with a mission to integrate DE&I best practices throughout the organization and improve the employee experience.
In just two years, LaCour initiated seven employee resource groups at BlueHalo for veterans, women, LGBTQ+, Black, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian American and Pacific Islander employees. These groups foster community and offer cultural experiences and learning for all employees. Recently, LaCour established BlueHalo’s National Diversity Council, uniting leaders from these groups to exchange ideas and form a diversity-focused coalition.
LaCour also helped create advocates of diversity and inclusion by sponsoring DE&I certification for functional and program team members across the organization. To expand upon the success of this certification program, LaCour is working to create a custom DE&I training program to provide access to diversity training for even more BlueHalo employees.
“Deat has done so much to establish an important set of initiatives at BlueHalo,” said Patrick Markus, BlueHalo sector president and corporate executive vice president. “The programs, policies and best practices that he and his team have put in place in just two years have already had an extraordinary impact on our culture and climate of inclusion.”
Why Watch
With LaCour’s leadership, BlueHalo is focused on advancing its Supplier Diversity Program in 2024, widening the organization’s focus on diversity and inclusion to support small and minority-owned businesses. LaCour will also be launching the BlueHalo Culture & Climate Angels Awards in 2024 to recognize employees accelerating inclusion, inspiring community and collaboration, and building culture within BlueHalo.
