    Mike Uster, ManTech

    Mike Uster

CIO, Chief Technology Officer & Senior Vice President, ManTech

This year, Mike Uster led ManTech’s IT team in significant projects. They successfully deployed a new AI tool, introduced AI tools for understanding natural language, moved the entire company to Google Workspace and completed robotic process automation and other advanced projects, all within a secure zero trust framework.

These initiatives improved enterprisewide knowledge security, advanced operational efficiency by saving time, delivered industry-leading identity management — and bolstered organizational and operational innovation and excellence, all at significant cost savings.

    Why Watch

Uster and his team are focusing on three main areas of innovation using ManTech’s “Proven Here First” model: AI, the “Future of Work” and zero trust security. These are currently active at ManTech. The AI is tailored to improve efficiency and add value to mission-specific solutions quickly, using “Future of Work” collaboration tools.

Equally important, they’re boosting security by improving their zero trust architecture with cyber psychology and deception methods, helping them counter advanced cyber threats.

“IT depends on excellence in both the seemingly mundane tasks and ‘exciting’ cutting edge innovation,” Uster said. “There’s so much emphasis on the latter — which is absolutely necessary. But the ability to excel in the basic “blocking and tackling” in the cyber world is so vital and when we do that well, I know that’s when we are able to create something extraordinary and deliver at scale. Excellence drives more excellence.”
