Ray Coleman
CIO, Koniag Government Services
When Ray Coleman joined Koniag Government Services in 2022 as chief information officer, he brought with him extensive experience that included serving in the Army, leading enterprise IT modernization initiatives for the Defense Department and federal civilian agencies and forming his own company.
Today, he’s taking his experience working in the tight-knit IT community and using it to advance crucial areas at KGS.
“I have a strong sense of mission, and joining KGS has allowed me to continue that calling by serving our Alaskan Native shareholders and our customers,” Coleman said.
Coleman has spearheaded the modernization of the KGS corporate IT service desk, revolutionizing how KGS users receive IT support by creating a 24/7 philosophy of anytime, anywhere on any device used to conduct KGS business. This includes the Ask IT mobile app that dramatically enhanced operational efficiency and employee satisfaction through an approach that is like having IT support in their pocket.
Why Watch
Understanding that artificial intelligence will be critically important, Coleman and his team are creating an enterprise capability to explore emerging technologies in a secure cloud environment that facilitates partnerships between customers and KGS lines of business. The capability will facilitate discovery around machine learning, robotics and other areas.
For Coleman, IT is much more than managing a digital environment. It’s about how to interact with staff and customers and the exciting possibilities emerging technologies bring.
“IT is rapidly evolving,” said KGS CEO Kevin Wideman. “Ray’s vision includes the broad scope of how the digital environment can help KGS and our customers succeed. With him, there are no prescribed IT boundaries, rather looking ahead to what emerging technologies can do for us as a company and for our customers.”
