The finalists for WashingtonExec’s 2023 Pinnacle Awards were announced Sept. 25, and we’ll be highlighting some of them until the event takes place live, in-person Nov. 16.

Next is Michael Fry, director of Sev1Tech’s Aerospace Defense Division, and finalist in the Space Executive of the Year, Private & Public, category. Here, he shares his primary focus areas going forward and proud organizational moments.

What are your primary focus areas going forward, and why are those so important to the future of the nation?

As director of Sev1Tech’s Aerospace Defense Division, I am working closely with our team to establish a robust networking infrastructure for U.S. Space Force Mission systems that facilitates data exchange and connectivity between space and ground assets. The Space Force relies heavily on data, and our goal is to ensure secure data transmission to production facilities and data processing centers so that mission-critical operations run as efficiently as possible.

Another focus is enhancing cloud capabilities for our Air Force and Space Force partners. Transferring data from mission systems to the cloud and software factories will better enable DevOps capabilities. Sev1Tech’s technical expertise is ideally suited to efficiently manage cloud infrastructure and migrate key applications. Our goal is to strengthen network connectivity, allowing for a centralized data connection that can facilitate secure communications across a wide spectrum of operations and mission partners.

Lastly, we understand that zero trust and DevSecOps capabilities are critical to our aerospace partners as military operations continue to digitize. We’re focusing on extending Sev1Tech’s technical expertise in DevOps and Application Development to meet the specific requirements of our defense customers and provide high-quality mission-support without compromising on security or functionality.

What are you most proud of having been a part of in your current organization?

My greatest source of pride lies within Sev1Tech’s extensive technical proficiency that stems from the incredible talent we’ve cultivated. Together, we consistently deliver high-quality services to our government customers, emphasizing Sev1Tech’s commitment to technical excellence and innovation.

A perfect testament to this is our success in securing a U.S. Space Force contract for meshONE-Terrestrial, a cybersecure prototype data transport network supporting U.S. Space Force missions and U.S. Air Force ground systems that connects war fighters across service branches, aerospace industry partners and foreign mission partners.

This achievement represents years of hard work and trust-building, demonstrating that a mid-sized company such as Sev1Tech can excel in handling complex technical projects for the DOD. I’m proud to have been a part of our team’s journey to becoming a trusted mission partner in the aerospace community.

Finally, the mentorship provided by Sev1Tech’s Executive Team has been invaluable in my growth as a leader, technologist, and business professional. I’m extremely grateful for the immense amount of support and guidance I’ve received since I’ve joined Sev1Tech, which has allowed me to reach my full potential as an industry leader and guide my team to success.
