    Thomas Bruno, GDIT

    Thomas Bruno

Vice President & General Manager, Homeland Security & Telecommunications, GDIT

Thomas Bruno is excited about GDIT’s 2023 achievements for DHS customers, which include developing cyber exercises, advancing responsible biometric use, helping disaster victims, and combating transnational crime and drug trafficking.

“I think a great measure of whether you are meeting your customer’s expectations is if they want to keep working with you,” he said. “We were successful on several key recompetes this year, including our work modernizing the DHS Campus in southeast Washington, D.C., our deployment of ever-advancing technologies to secure our borders, and the training and operations support we provide to DHS’ trade facilitation mission.”

    Why Watch

As 2024 nears, GDIT is focused on implementing six “digital accelerators” for all its clients, including DHS. These technologies – zero trust, IT operation automation, multicloud management, software factory approaches, 5G and mission-focused AI and machine learning – are crucial for an agency like DHS, whose mission adapts to shifting needs and priorities over time

DHS provides an ideal setting to apply digital accelerators to major challenges, such as deciphering extensive data for identifying essential patterns and threats, and bolstering the protection of critical infrastructure and sensitive data. Bruno is particularly passionate about helping DHS in blending these strategies to improve the efficiency and safety of agents and officers in the field.

“We have over 1,000 GDIT employees that support DHS,” he said. “Every one of them takes pride in supporting the 260,000 employees at DHS that are dedicated to serving the nation and its people. One of our priorities in 2024 is to equip them with the skills required to apply those digital accelerators to their customers’ biggest challenges.”
