    Andrew Cunje

    CISO, Appian Corp.

Andrew Cunje was a contributing member of the reboot for the 2023 Art into Science: A Conference on Defense happening in October after the COVID-19 pandemic shut it down.

Being a member of the global security community requires a strong sense of community, which includes bringing people together to share their learnings, make connections and to create influence for change.

In the world of security, Cunje believe it’s “red vs blue” and that security experts need to be tightly coordinated and connected to have a strong “Global Blue Team.”

“Andrew artfully melds technology, security and compliance to make the Appian AI Process Platform better for our customers, partners and employees,” said Myles Weber, Appian chief information officer.

    Why Watch

Looking ahead, Cunje’s team is focused on globally applicable security services that enhance regional isolation. Appian has obtained 28 certifications, including in highly regulated sectors such as banking, insurance, healthcare and public sector.

To tackle this, Cunje’s team is introducing new customer security and enablement services, corporate segmentation services, regionally isolated and modernized threat detection platforms, security observability automation platforms, and new identity, authentication and networking platforms as part of their zero-trust journey.

“There’s always a balance between where a business is on their security journey, the needs of the business and its customers (new markets and speed), and resilient modernized security,” Cunje said. “The trick is finding a pragmatic, simplified, and scalable approach to adequately de-risk the ever evolving landscape that is security. Regardless, a highly empathetic, transparent, and aggressive deployment approach is required to make the required security impact and protections happen.”
